With a short cooking time, these easy smoked burgers still taste nice and smoky! You’ll get deliciously seasoned and juicy burgers with all the smoky flavor you want – fast!

Why You Should Make Smoked Burgers

I personally don’t think that you need to smoke burgers for hours to get a good, smoky flavor.

Here’s why:

  • Burger patties are fairly thin so the smoke doesn’t need to “penetrate” the patties.
  • Since the meat is ground, it has plenty of bits and pieces to absorb smoke quickly.
  • Smoking for 30 minutes instead of 1-2 hours doesn’t change the end result, you still get great smoked burgers.

We call Them Traeger Burgers

Since I’ve always used a Traeger Pellet Grill, I call these Traeger Burgers. But you can really make these in any pellet grill or smoker.

If you are making these on an old Traeger with only the high-medium-low settings, use medium for this recipe. It will approximate the 350° recommended in the recipe.

Otherwise, follow the recipe with whatever smoker you have and enjoy!

With a short cooking time, these easy smoked burgers still taste nice and smoky! You'll get deliciously seasoned and juicy burgers with all smoky flavor you want – fast!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

Seasoning mix (recommended but optional, can just use salt and pepper)

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Equipment

Instructions

  • Preheat your smoker to 350° Fahrenheit.
  • Shape your ground beef into 4 evenly sized patties.
  • Mix up the seasoning mix and sprinkle it generously over both sides of the burger patties.
  • Once the smoker is up to temperature, place burgers on to cook. Cook for 25-35 minutes, flipping halfway. Cooking for 30 minutes will result in medium burgers (moderately pink throughout). If you want no pink in your burgers, cook them the full 35 minutes or longer.
