Perfect for chicken, beef or shrimp
I love that this marinade will work for just about any kind of fajita you want! It’s our go-to whenever we make fajitas. Our favorites are:
- Chicken – Use either chicken breasts or thighs. Pro tip: Cut the chicken into strips before you marinate it.
- Steak – Our favorite cuts for fajitas are
- #1 – Skirt steak
- #2 – Flank steak
- Shrimp – Large shrimp that are already peeled and deveined work great for fajitas.
Recipe tips
- Marinating time – The longer you marinate your meat, the more flavor the marinade will impart. However, you can marinate your protein for as little as only 15 minutes and get great results with this marinade.
- Leftover marinade – I like to cook my fajitas with the marinade. Just dump everything into a skillet and cook your chicken or steak, tossing it with the marinade juices. If you do this, be sure the marinade liquid heats up to a quick boil to kill any bacteria.

A Fajita Marinade to Thrash All Others (For Chicken, Beef & Shrimp)
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup coconut aminos
- 2 limes juice of, (about 1/4 cup lime juice)
- 1/2 cup cilantro, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp chili powder
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade by mixing all of the marinade ingredients together in a bowl or pyrex container.
- Use as a marinade for fajitas made with chicken, beef or shrimp. You can marinate for as little as 15 minutes or all the way up to 24 hours.
Notes
- Recipe yields approximately 3/4 cup of marinade. This amount will work well for about 2 lbs of protein (chicken, beef, shrimp, etc). Recipe can be scaled up or down to suit your needs.
