What mayo and anchovy paste do you prefer?
You can use store bought mayo to save time and effort. We love Primal Kitchen the most. A couple other brands we’ve used are Sir Kensington and Chosen Foods. You can also use homemade avocado oil mayo as well!
For anchovy paste, we use the brand Crown Prince, and it can be found on Amazon. We’ve also found it locally at Whole Foods and Natural Grocers, so you might check your local health food store.

This is by far my favorite dairy free Caesar dressing. I didn’t have anchovy paste but I did have Fish Sauce. Also I used regular Olive Oil and put in some crushed garlic. So good. My 2 year old loves it on her salad too!
Love hearing that it works with fish sauce, we’ll have to try that 🙂
Hi, I have a couple of questions. First, we tried the recipe and is awesome. We made the mayo ourself following your recipe for homemade mayo and it turn out really good. One question. I think the dressing after put it in the fridge was to thick. How can we made the recipe a little bit runnier ? Also I was thinking if it is possible to switch the 1/4 cup olive oil with avocado oil ? Could we do it in the same amount 1/4 ? Thanks for your help
Regards.
Hi there, so happy to hear you enjoyed the recipes. The homemade Mayo definitely can get a little thick once it sits in the fridge. You can thin it out by mixing in a little cold water until it reaches your desired consistency.
As for swapping out some olive oil, you can in the same amount you would use for avocado oil. Just make sure to use a light olive oil otherwise you will have an overpowering olive oil taste.
Hope that helps!
Made this today for some Caesar salads to go with our meatballs. OMG, so good! We’re not fish eaters, so we skipped the anchovy paste, but hubby liked it so much he wants to try the anchovy paste! You may have converted him. 😉 totally yummy! And so many less ingredients than a store brought bottle, and way tastier too! Thanks for the recipe!
Haha! So glad it was a hit! I’ve made it without the anchovy paste when I didn’t have any on hand and it does still turn out great, even better with it though in my opinion. I’d be curious what you guys think if you give it a try. Thanks for taking the time to come back and leave a review! 🙂
