Making a Baked Potato in the Air Fryer
It’s basically like making a baked potato in the oven, but the air fryer cooks them a little faster and makes the skin crispy. Here’s what you’ll do:
- Wash and dry the potatoes
- Pierce them with a fork
- Cover them with a little oil
- Sprinkle with salt all over
- Toss them in the air fryer for 45-50 minutes

Tips for Baking Potatoes in the Air Fryer
This recipe is really very easy, but we do have a few tips from recipe testing:
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer. You want the potatoes to have a little space around them to allow the air to circulate.
- Adjust the cooking time based on the size of your potatoes. 45-50 minutes will work great for medium-sized russet potatoes. Larger potatoes will need to cook longer and smaller potatoes will need less cook time.
- When checking the potatoes, I suggest slicing one open and “fluffing up” the insides with a fork. If it’s still hard it needs to cook a while longer.
