Easy Chocolate Custard (Paleo, Dairy-Free + Refined Sugar-Free)

This creamy, easy chocolate custard is the perfect treat to celebrate the holiday of looovveee. If you are a chocolate fan, you will love this easy chocolate custard. We use raw cacao to get that rich, dark chocolate flavor and then sweeten with maple syrup.

  • 2 cups full fat coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup (add more to sweeten to taste)
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 tbsp grass-fed gelatin
  • 1/4 cup warm water


  1. Add all of the ingredients, except for the gelatin and water, to a large saucepan and warm over medium heat. Whisk to combine all of the ingredients.  

  2. While the ingredients heat up, combine warm water and gelatin in a small bowl. Whisk to thoroughly combine and then add to the saucepan. 

  3. Whisk everything in the saucepan one more time, and then carefully pour into small glass jars or ramekins. Cover and place in the fridge to set for several hours. Once set enjoy!
