Ok, I’m pretty sure I’m a little late to the whole smoothie bowl game, but nonetheless, here is a delicious berry protein smoothie bowl! It is full of antioxidant rich berries, healthy fats and protein. It is a light, yet filling breakfast or great for a post workout recovery meal or snack!
Quick + Easy
You know we love anything that is quick, easy, and delicious! This berry protein smoothie bowl is nothing short of that! And you can really customize the toppings based on what you have on hand or what you prefer. Some ideas are granola, banana slices, nuts, coconut flakes, more berries, and fresh basil or mint. There are really so many options! For this berry protein smoothie bowl we topped it with additional blueberries, pomegranate seeds, and roughly chopped pistachios.
What is collagen and why is it good for you?
While I do lots of reading, and try to be always learning, I am not a nutritionist or a physician, so I won’t try to pretend that I’m an expert on this. What I have learned is that collagen is great for your hair, skin, nails, joints, bones, and cartilage. It also promotes good gut health. You can read more about the benefits of collagen and gelatin here in a post from Paleo Leap. There are some differences between collagen and gelatin, and I primarily notice that gelatin causes liquids to gel, whereas collagen dissolves in liquids. Depending on the particular recipe, one or the other might make more sense. I used collagen to make this smoothie bowl, but note gelatin would make it thicker. There are a couple of brands of collagen I’m familiar with. My most recent purchase was for Perfect Supplements Grass-Fed Hydrolyzed Collagen, which is what I used for this smoothie bowl. I find that you get a little more for your money with Perfect Supplements, and I have used other products of theirs as well. I also like Vital Proteins.
Smoothie Bowl Packed With All The Good Stuff
We love that there are no refined sugars or dairy in this smoothie bowl like you might get in many smoothies, just real food ingredients. It is made with antioxidant rich berries, healthy fats from the coconut milk and avocado, and protein from the collagen. It really fills you up and sticks with you for a long time. You definitely won’t feel hungry in an hour after filling up on this smoothie bowl!

I adore adding collagen to my smoothies, so much better than protein powder! This smoothie bowl looks incredible! I love the addition of avocado for extra creaminess 🙂
Totally agreed. I prefer collagen over a protein powder any day! Agreed, the avocado adds so much creaminess! Can’t wait to play with smoothie bowls some more! Thanks for visiting again! 🙂
