- Chicken broth – You can substitute beef broth or even red wine if desired for a different depth of flavor.
- Crushed tomatoes – Fire roasted crushed tomatoes work great for this recipe!
- Seasonings – You can add in some crushed red pepper flakes if you want a spicy version.
Recipe tips
- Spaghetti noodles are great, but you can really use any kind of noodles you want with this sauce.
- Don’t skip the deglazing step (step #5). You want all of those delicious bits from the bottom of the pan to mix in with the sauce.
- You can allow the sauce to simmer longer if desired, but 15-20 minutes is sufficient to allow the flavors to meld.
- Storage – You can store leftovers in the fridge for 4-5 days or freeze for 3-4 months.

Easy Homemade Ground Chicken Spaghetti Bolognese
Ingredients
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
For serving:
- 16 oz spaghetti noodles
- shredded parmesan cheese, (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare garlic and onion as noted.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add in the oil. Once the pan is hot, add in the garlic and onion and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Break it up into small chunks and season it with the sea salt and Italian seasoning. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through, about 7-8 minutes.
- While the chicken is cooking, gather the remaining ingredients.
- When the chicken is cooked, add in the chicken broth. Scrape up the bits from the bottom of the pan with a spoon or spatula.
- Add in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir to mix. Bring the sauce mixture to a quick simmer and turn it down to low so it's just bubbling. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, to let the flavors meld. Taste and season with additional salt and pepper if desired.
- While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti noodles as instructed on the package. Drain the noodles and serve the noodles with bolognese sauce.
