How to make this 20-Minute Ground Chicken Stir Fry
Ingredient notes
- Ground chicken – Chicken is so mild and takes on the flavor of the sauce really well. Ground turkey, ground beef, ground pork, etc. would work well, too.
- Veggies – If desired, you can use other veggies in this skillet. Typical stir-fry veggies work best (bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, snap peas, green beans, etc.)
- Coconut aminos – You can substitute liquid aminos or soy sauce if desired. Start with 2 tablespoons and add more to suit your taste as they are saltier than coconut aminos.
- Arrowroot starch – We use it as a thickener for the sauce. You can substitute tapioca starch, cassava flour or corn starch if desired.

20-Minute Ground Chicken Stir Fry
Ingredients
For the stir-fry
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 2 tbsp sesame oil, divided, (or other cooking oil of choice)
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 2 cups sliced carrots
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
For the stir-fry sauce
- 1/4 cup coconut aminos
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp maple syrup, (omit for Whole30)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp arrowroot starch, (can sub corn starch or other thickening flour)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add in 1 tbsp sesame oil. Once the pan is hot, add in the ground chicken and break it into small chunks. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is browned and cooked through, about 7-8 minutes.
- While the chicken is cooking, chop the broccoli, carrots and bell pepper as noted. Make the stir fry sauce by mixing all of the ingredients in a small bowl or jar.
- Once the chicken is cooked, add in 1 tbsp sesame oil. Then, add in the broccoli, carrots and bell pepper. Saute for 4-5 minutes until the veggies just start to soften.
- Whisk the stir fry sauce quickly (in case the flour settled). Pour the stir fry sauce over the chicken and veggies and mix to coat. Scrape up any bits from the bottom of the pan. Cook for 2-3 more minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.
- Remove from heat when the veggies are cooked to your liking. Serve and enjoy.
This recipe was amazing! I doubled it, served over white rice and there was nothing left with my family of 4. I left out the sesame oil cuz that’s what worked for us. I also use frozen stir-fry mix from Target (2 bags). So good. Will 1000% make again. I have yet to really find an Asian style dish I can make at home and actually taste good. Thank you sooo much.
