Ingredients notes and tips

This homemade version is a more flavorful take on classic vinegar based buffalo sauce that we perfected through our recipe testing. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Hot sauce – We prefer Frank’s Red Hot classic sauce. It is the perfect base for this recipe.
  • Ghee – Adds in some buttery flavor.
  • Nutritional yeast – Gives the sauce a “cheesy” flavor and thickens it up a bit.
  • Lemon juice – This helps to smooth out the vinegar flavor from the hot sauce.

This keto buffalo sauce is a little thicker with the addition of nutritional yeast and seasonings.

Is this a good buffalo wing sauce?

The answer is yes, absolutely! We like to slather this sauce all over our easy air fryer chicken wings.

It also goes really well with shredded chicken. Check out this insanely easy Instant Pot buffalo chicken for a recipe to try.

The sauce is even great on cauliflower. For another easy air fryer recipe, check out this air fryer buffalo cauliflower.
